Day 7 | Cheryl
Today was awesome! Courtney and I got to meet the little Haitian girl that we are going to support. She is so precious. She walked in and immediately touched my face and held my hand. She then went and sat on Courtney’s lap. We had an interpreter and got to speak with her and her mother. It was sooooo awesome. I told her we would pray for her daily. I am so thankful that we were able to do this. God has blessed us so much and we want to give back to this little life and help her through school which is only 6th grade. I can’t believe we leave tomorrow. We leave the compound at 9 am and should arrive in Florida at 5 pm. God has blessed this group this week. It’s funny, we came to bless the Haitian people but God has blessed us. God is the same God everywhere!!! He loves us all the same. The BHM (Baptist Haitian Ministry) truly blesses this people!!! See everyone soon. Love you all!!

Day 6 | Cheryl
Today we went to the market. It reminded me of a US flee market but crazy. People sitting everywhere with veggies, fruit, meat, livestock (and I mean alive), clothing, and many other things EVERYWHERE!!!!! We road to the market standing up in the back of dump truck on a bumpy road and it was fun. Then our driver Willie took us to a bakery where they were making bread. When I heard the word “bakery” I was looking forward to seeing some sweets but that wasn’t the case. The men were baking bread and rolls in a brick oven and the conditions inside were not good. They were very hard workers and the bread was delicious but I felt sorry for them. Smoke filled part of the room and creosote was on the ceiling.
We then travelled to a section in the mts were you could see the Dominican Republic. The views during the ride were awesome. We are so blessed in the US with soooo many conveniences and this trip has made me appreciate so many things. We are going tomorrow to barter and that should be fun. Sam and Josh we’ll be seeing you soon . Love ya!!

Day 5 | Cheryl
Eric just read all of our messages to us. Thank you to every one who sent Court and me messages over the last few days. (Sam, Josh, Mammaw, Pappaw, Jen, Jean and Stevie G). We are still working on the playground. The ark looks great! Tomorrow we will travel to the market just like the Haitians do. I think it will be a great experience so we can better relate to them. When we return we will continue working. I can’t believe we only have two days left. Everything I was worried about has been so much better than expected. I’m so glad I came. The weather has been beautiful!!! No HOT days, warm showers, and a wonderful cook. Unfortunately I don’t believe I lost the few pounds I was hoping for lol. Just wanted to say that even though I don’t attend GBC they have treated my daughter and I just like family. I am so glad Gina and Quinn invited us. Thank you for all the blogs and especially the prayers. See everyone soon-we should be home Friday morning. Make sure to check out all the videos on the website as well.

Day 4 | Cheryl
Happy Father’s Day!!!! I hope you had a great day! I’m glad Josh is staying the night with your parents. I got your messages. Tell everyone thanks for the prayers. Court and I are having a blast. Johnnie one of the young Haitian men here at BHM (Baptist Haitian Mission) took us on an extreme hike today to one of the water falls. We hiked about 1500 to 2000 feet down a mountain then to the waterfall and then back up a zigzag path that was not so intense. It took us about 4 and ½ hours and I am feelin’ it!! We also went to church but could not understand much. It seemed very good. Tomorrow we work again all day. The trip is flying by and everyone is very nice. Courtney is blending in well and is really having a great time. Love you and look forward to seeing you. Tell JJ I love him and miss him.

Day 2 | Cheryl
Thank you guys for blogging!!! It was great to hear from everyone. Day two has been great. This was our first day of work and “Noah’s Ark” is well under way. Also, the kids did a great job weeding on the property. Everything is looking great. Weather is wonderful…overcast today. We are in the mountains so we don’t have the extreme heat that they have down near the beach. Tomorrow is another work day. We have met many missionaries and their families that live here in Haiti on the Baptist Haiti Ministry Compound....lovely families with a heart for the Haitian people. The kids are working so well and getting along. Sam and Josh I miss you guys but am having a great time. Love you!!! Mammaw and Pappaw thanks for blogging and can’t wait to tell you our stories-love you. I hope Kayley and Christina are doing well……
