Day 11 | Hannah Dittman

Today we went to a Haitian church for service. It started at 9 and ended around 11. There was another mission group that came here from Texas but they are not with BHM. The church was great the Texas pastor preached and another Haitian translated. It was great how we all came to worship together even though we might not have been able to understand each other. We all were their to worship the same God. After service some went on the hike, but I stayed here and napped. We played spoons a lot today and it has been a really good day. I can’t wait to finish the church and house. Dad love and miss you !

Day 11 | Russell Nuckles

Sunday. It was a pleasant, relaxing day. Church service here was much more similar to what we would consider normal than the previous services that I have attended here. The message was presented by an American, and then translated by the Haitian minister. Everything else was in Haitian. As always, it was comforting to see that the adoration and exultation of God transcends cultures and nationalities. Following this, I napped.

Day 11 | Bronlynn Morlan

Well I must say that Sunday has been my favorite day so far. We went to church down the hill instead of at their usual place of worship here at the compound. Evidently the church on the compound was having a special celebration service that was going to be anywhere from 7 - 8 hours with a few breaks for food. They were to baptize 40 people today in the driveway here at the compound as part of the celebration. That would have been awesome to see and I have loved hearing the music coming from the same church every night this week as they have been finishing up revival. They sang for what seemed like hours on the two nights of revival that I could hear. Our morning service had a guest speaker that spoke English and the pastor then translated for the Haitian church members. The “old people” hung out around the compound today while the “youngsters” took a great hike with great views. We sat around the playground and played a little soccer and watched children play. It was awesome watching Riley and Allie play with the children and learn some French Creole. We had an evening service with Logan leading worship in song and Bill brought a message. We are finishing up the evening with popcorn and an evening with Roger and Judy. I am constantly hearing about things I have missed while watching something else. I just heard about Tyler carrying an older lady out of church that had passed out and then helping with first aid for her. Our kids just never stop looking for someone to serve, the girls are struggling with leaving the weekend dishes for Mary Lou but they are not allowed to wash them. I don’t know what else the Lord has in store for me this week but I am ready to live every minute of this adventure for His Glory!! I love you all and I could never have done any of this without your prayers and encouraging words.

Day 11 | Raegan Flint

Today was an off day (for some). I and a few other girls went on a four hour hike. We climbed slippery waters falls and hiked huge mountains on goat trails. Elainah and I had so much fun today! I also got to go under the water fall and get my picture taken. All of the views i got to see was amazing and I am so happy was wasn't a lazy bum and stayed at the compound. Lana and I got to name a cow and her calf. (calf- Tina -Mom- Bear) Then a goat and her baby. (kid- Lard Mom- Moose). I had so much fun and the excitement of climbing the hills was amazing. And Uncle Bill told me my mom said that i could not do the hike so, I thought to say haha in your face Mom!!!!

Day 11 | Logan Morlan

Well today has been really good, we went to church and then some people went on the hike to the water falls. The church service was really nice, all i can say is that their mass gets way more involved in the service. In their service every one sang, and sang loudly. They didn't care what they sounded like, they didn't even care that there was about 50 white people in a church that they had never met before. They sang and sang and sang, it was truly amazing. Now the hike was actually really good. We had some great guides, Colton, Johny, and Johny’s brother Feato. Unfortunately i was the only guy from our church group to go on the walk so i was surrounded by girls, who at one point started just rambling on and on and on and on…………and on. But all in all it was a really great trip I’m pretty sad that my adventure here is almost over, i don't really want to go home but i know that i have to. Although that I've done a lot here work wise, i still feel like i havent done enough but i know that i cant physically do any more than i have done already. well i hope that you are all reading these and that you are keeping us in your prayers. Day 11 | Bill Morlan

Today we went to a different church about 10 minutes away from the compound. For Haitian standards, it was a quick service and only lasted about one hour and forty five minutes. The senior pastor could speak english so it made it nice when he would repeat what he was saying in english. They had a guest speaker today from another mission team that was there and they were from Texas. It was a real good service and the people at the church were very friendly. After service we loaded back into the dump truck and headed back up the mountain. During the service the senior pastor call me to the stage to give an account of who we were and what we were doing there. Yea, that caught me off guard. Some of the youth went on the hike and I'm sure they will be writing about it later. From what I have heard so far, they had a great time and enjoyed the hike. After dinner tonight we will have our own church service and then we have to prepare the crafts for tomorrow. Today was a lazy day as several people took naps while others of us went to the ark and watched the kids play. It is so cool to watch the kids play and you just wonder how many kids have played on the ark over the last 2 years. Roger told us that at times during the school year there are hundreds of children here to play. They let 100 in at a time for 1 hour and then the next bus comes down the hill to let the next hundred play for an hour. There have probably been tens of thousands of children on the playground. To watch the families that are there is a blessing that I am glad that I got to watch. They bring their lunches and blankets and stay for the day. They take soo many pictures. Today was a great day and tomorrow will be a challenge. Our work load will increase tomorrow as it will be a hard day 3 with the stucco going on the walls of the house and pouring more cement for the stage at the church. Pray for us and for VBS tomorrow. Day 10 | Bill Morlan

Day 3 is in the books and things are starting to look very good. Today my crew went to the church to pour the floor of the church. What a job!!! We probably poured over 7 yards of concrete. Tyler, Kenton, Logan and Russell did the mixing. I sure am glad that we had them today. We started out by having to finish tying the rebar together and cutting it to length. Then the fun started of mixing, making human lines to get it from where you mix it to where it needed to go. Then Lloyd worked with the Haitians to finish the concrete. We finished this job about 3pm. While we were doing the cement, the others in my group were doing VBS. We had about 60 kids and from what I could tell our youth did an outstanding job. Logan Gibson is heading up our VBS this week. For the first 2 days of work, our kids and the adults here have done an outstanding job. It is very hot here right now, as a matter of fact the Haitians even think it is hot. Several of our team probably won’t blog tonite because they are asleep. Our team is worn out and they really need the day off tomorrow to regain their strength, me included. The GBC family can be very proud of both teams that have come to Haiti this time around. One of the biggest joys I have is that you get to see the heart of those who come on trips like this. Words cannot describe what you see and experience on a trip like this. At this time we have no power and it’s hot in the place that we stay and yet there is no complaining. It can get very tough working like this and yet no one complains. Continue to pray for us as tomorrow we go to a different church than usual. Pray for our heath, work projects and that the Lord would change our hearts to be more like Him. Love you boys and my girls
