Day 8 | Trey Jack

Yesterday was a long day. We all woke up to turn around and sleep on our way to Yellowstone. Nana (Vickie) traded spots with Eladio then with me. Every time she saw an animal she and Hannah would scream at Lloyd to stop but he'd keep on going. After a few teases of the geyser, we finally got to see Old Faithful erupt. On the way home, I spotted a heard of elk and Nana screams “Elk elk elk elk elk!” and we all were dying in laughter. Today, most of us started at the church. Everyone picked up and moved the chairs, while Emily and I vacuumed the first floor and balcony. The same group headed to Kenny’s house to drill nails in to plywood to secure the flooring. Hannah, Tess, and I got into a system where Hannah would give the nail to Tess where she hammers it in a little and I’d follow behind drilling. We got it done in just a little over an hour which was great. Tomorrow is the last day of work so we will see what’s next!

Day 6 | Trey Jack

Day 6 went by pretty well. We made awesome rock chains. Emily and I made our own version of Jail House Rock to Church House Rock. Finally, we were able to finish the huge rock pile! I'm excited to go to Yellowstone tomorrow for more new adventure!

Day 5 | Trey Jack

Day 5 and we started work. We all started at the park to pick up trash but i stayed since it was my day for VBS. I taught a lesson with a Fidget Spinner and how the 3 side represents God, the Father, and the Holy Spirt while the middle represented us. While I spun it, I stoped it saying that is sin trying to stop the flow. After that, we ate at the church and helped move rock out in the back to lay a tarp to put the rocks back on. We got the back all done so hopefully we can bust it out and finish it!

Day 4 | Trey Jack

Day 3 and 4 where pretty eventful. The last stretch was crazy as it got to the point that Linda was seeing hay bales as animal heard and Emily and Preston got slap happy with Hannah in the middle. Day 3 we finally arrive to the camp with little cabin-like buildings where we sleep. Day 4 we went to the native church for morning service. They sung twice as many songs and each one lead into the next. We ate then decided to go for a swim at Yellowtail. Before we left, we got gas and Lorie decided to get us water. Each 1 gallons! The swim felt good till a kid almost got hit by a non-working boat then had a panic attack and almost drowned. By the time we got back, everyone thought we forgot Paul. Tomorrow is supposed to be the first day of work so I’m excited to see what happens.

Day 2 | Trey Jack

Today wasn't too bad. Slept some more on and off. I had a funny conversation with Hannah Dittman about books which lead to PLL (Pretty Little Liars) and how I have still yet to watch the season finally. After stuff my face a Golden Corral, my van had a fun ride back laughing at different categories Lorie Dittman would name for us to sing about. The pool here is nice because I could go to the deep end without my head going under! I’m ready for tomorrow and what adventure awaits us.

Day 1 | Trey Jack

Today wasn't too bad. I dozed in and out of sleep most of the ride. At one point, I woke up half on Eladio’s lap. I helped a little with Emily and Preston’s ukulele song on bladders. Then went back to sleep for a little bit. While we were at dinner, I was stressing back I thought someone stole my wallet but it fell under my chair (probably from the lack of sleep). I can already tell it’s going to be a great week and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Day 7 | Trey Jack

Well today was the last day and I cant believe it! It was a relaxing day. We went to the house we built and dedicated to the family. It was such a blessing seeing a family so happy to see what you contributed to! They were so happy and the wife was speechless. The new comers and a few other went to the market. It wasn't crowded at all but it showed the new ones what it would be like on a busy day. We lunch at Mountain Maid and got to badder that afternoon. I forgot how crazy it was! We start walking up the steps and they are like vaulters on fresh meat *come to my store i give you good deal.* All in all it was a great week and so many memories were made!

Day 6 | Trey Jack

Today was VBS and Preston and I were over games. We played duck duck goose (knanna knanna coose) with the kids. One little boy was going around the circle and wham smacks this other boy and before he could get up and run the other boy was half way around the circle. The this one little girl, she got pick every other turn and she came around the conner and face planted. She got right back up and keep going. On the way home, i was on Big Red and it was so cool to drive through clouds. It looked like mist but we were so high up you could see the everything below but not in front of you. Ready to bargain tomorrow!!

Day 5 | Trey Jack

Today was my first day at the house site. We put lots of stucco on the inside and outside of the house. The Hatians put the tin ruff on. The family had a 3 month old and Micky was holding her when i took a brake. He asked if i wanted to hold her (already knowing that the mother would leave her with me) and I said yes. I held her for about an hour and fed, burped, and put her asleep. One of the translator said I was the unlimited babysitter and the mother was happy she didn't have to do it (she was cooking food for the workers and her family). Tomorrow ill be working at the church and doing VBS in the morning and I’m ready/excited. I cant believe tomorrow is the last working day.

Day 4 | Trey Jack

Sleep was my best friend today. Woke up for 6:30 service and dozed off a few time. We came back and in 5 minutes and I was out till about 4 to eat dinner. Nana (Vikki) almost blew up the oven. They tried to move the chicken pasta bake to a different rack and that fell. Getting all the rest I can before a hard days of work tomorrow.

Day 3 | Trey Jack

Today was better and less dangerous than yesterday. When we got there is was hurry up and wait. A few of us decided to play with the kids. Madison and Moranda had a little group of girls showing them how to jump rope and blow bubbles. Preston and I took a soccer ball behind a building that was near the church. There were some 6 and 7 year olds and they made our older soccer players look bad. Preston ended up hitting a little boy in the face but laugh and asked for more. When they needed us, we passed buckets of concrete to fill up a hole. Before we had lunch, i had at least 5 boys touching my skin and id look back and they'd giggle. I'm so tired and ready to rest tomorrow!

Day 2 | Trey Jack

Today was an adventure. I was on the church site groups. Going in took 2 hours of standing on a dump truck. I sifted sand for most part of the day. I helped move big rocks out of the church during demo. It was so fun to interact with the kids and see there smile. While working we encountered a rain storm and had to hide in the church. The ride back was the crazy part; where it had rain there was mud and it was slick. We had to jump out of the truck for them to get it up the hill for us to get back on then turn around and get back off at the next turn or hill. A few times it felt like a near death experience. That took at least 3 hours. A boy tried to sell me his horse for 40 dollars because he knew I was struggling. Over all I had a great time working and playing with the kids

Day 1 | Trey Jack

We made it! The plan ride was so funny with Preston. Since it was his first time flying, he was freaking out. He was already fanning his self off be before the pilot could finish talking about what would happen if we landed in the water. Once we were here and unpacked everything, we checked out the playground. Some things are different from last time. Servando took a soccer ball down to the ark and played with a Hasian. Then he asked if we wanted to make teams of 3. We used rocks for goals and you could tell they were having fun. We had dinner with Roger and Judy after the tour.

Day 14 | Trey

Today was a good day. After morning devotions, the Haitian and us all were in a circle holding hands and prayed. Later everyone got to meet there kid they sponsored. We went to market and had a great time! Got a lot of good deals again and got everyone that was on my list stuff they would like☺ I don’t want to leave tomorrow but I’m somewhat ready to head home. I miss everyone and had lots of memories to tell. This trip had definitely changed me! I almost forgot, I gave Mary Lou one of my scarfs that I made and she was thrilled!!!

Day 13 | Trey

Today were got to experience the market, but this was my second time. I was in a group with Allie, Tiara, Bill, Lloyd, and Johnny (our interpreter and friend). Tiara and Allie had the money and we did a good job. 4 avocados, 2 bread fruits, 4 papayas, 4 potatoes, and a fruit that they use for ice cream that tastes like mangos, papayas, and pineapple. I had to shovel sand in the ark everywhere when we got back. I got to play with a lot of little and big kids after. There was this boy some of us were talking to and he was trying to guess our ages and he thought I was 17 ha. I got to teach bible study tonight and I talked about doubt, well while and before I spoke the rain started to pore and all I could do was laugh. But I made it though and did a good job. One more full day tomorrow☹.

Day 12 | Trey

Today was a great day! Shawn and I started to painting the white fence rainbow colors but on the way Shawn talked to a Haitian guy and they talked about Jesus. The guy already accepted Christ. Madison, Tiara, and I paint the most part of the rainbow on the ark. We were told the story about how our lumber got here. Emerson is my new walking buddy too! ☺

Day 11 | Trey

Today for me was a lazy day. We went to the 6:30 church serves. This Sunday ended up being youth Sunday. They all sang a lot! There were these four girls that sang a song that I didn’t know, then sat down, then later got back up and sang I’m Coming Back to the Heart of Worship in French Kriol then the last part in English. We came back and we ate grilled cheese. Tiara did devotions and later all but 5 (Bill, Mickey, Rich, Kelsey, and I) went on the hike. I fell asleep on the green couch for a few hours. Bill kept singing You Are My Sunshine to me and Kelsey. Everyone came back tired.

Day 10 | Trey

Today was a good day. 2 slides were put up and Josiah went nuts for the big red one! Tiara and I painted signs the Kelsey routered. Tiara was painting one side and a Haitian guy walks up to her and looked interested in painting so Tiara gave him a brush and he went to town, only messed up a few times. Later I painted with Madison on a different board after lunch. Roger told Shawn to pull weeds along with Brent, Holden, and I. Well while we were weeding a guy comes up to Shawn and starts talking to her. Long story short, she led him to Christ :’) and he said he would be back Monday. This week is going by too fast!!!

Day 9 | Trey

Today was a good day. We got a lot of stuff done! Darlene and I work on the swings in the morning, we drilled hole to make the boards stable, and then we put in the things that hold the swing up. The rest of the day I chiseled on the titter totter with Tiara. After dinner Brent, Tiara, and I played with a frisbee in front of the ark with David (a guy I meet 2 days ago), his sister Hannah (who I meet today), and Chis (I saw before but meet today). We ended up playing with some Haitians who were adults that never played before.

Day 8 | Trey

Today was a sad day. The first group left. We did nothing but clean and get ready for the next group. I slept for 2 or 3 hours on the green couch. We played assassin and there was maybe 12 of us and 3 killer, I was a hoot. Lloyd was killed and he said “danggg im deaddd”
