Day 6 | Cheryl

Today we went to the market. It reminded me of a US flee market but crazy. People sitting everywhere with veggies, fruit, meat, livestock (and I mean alive), clothing, and many other things EVERYWHERE!!!!! We road to the market standing up in the back of dump truck on a bumpy road and it was fun. Then our driver Willie took us to a bakery where they were making bread. When I heard the word “bakery” I was looking forward to seeing some sweets but that wasn’t the case. The men were baking bread and rolls in a brick oven and the conditions inside were not good. They were very hard workers and the bread was delicious but I felt sorry for them. Smoke filled part of the room and creosote was on the ceiling. We then travelled to a section in the mts were you could see the Dominican Republic. The views during the ride were awesome. We are so blessed in the US with soooo many conveniences and this trip has made me appreciate so many things. We are going tomorrow to barter and that should be fun. Sam and Josh we’ll be seeing you soon . Love ya!!
